Night Time Lapse – From the Terrace

Night Time Lapse – From The Terrace from Jayanth Kashyap on Vimeo.

Call me crazy for taking a time-lapse on a full moon night! But hey, this was my first time with night-time lapse so I guess its fine! I realized that the light pollution did not reveal too many stars (moon wasn’t helping!) and I did not have an interesting foreground subject to add that extra flavor to the video. Nevertheless, I kinda like the overall mood of the video!

Lighthouse, Chennai!

We all know that current day Chennai, erstwhile Madras was  a strategic location for the East India Company. But there is a rich maritime history to this charming city as well! The lighthouse you see in the pictures was commissioned in 1977 and is the 4th lighthouse this city has seen since the first lighthouse was constructed roughly before 1796 AD. The previous three were in different locations along the stretch of the Marina Beach (World’s 2nd longest beach). Interestingly the previous lighthouse was in the tallest dome of the Madras High Court!

Oh here’s another fun fact – This lighthouse is one of the very few lighthouses in the World to have an elevator 🙂 The Government reopened the lighthouse to the public after a span of more than 20 years (because of cases of suicides in the past) in November and i am certainly waiting to get a view of the city from the viewing gallery, which has now been secured with grills and CCTV cameras.

Until next time! Cheers

Nepal – Abode of the Gods!

I just returned from a 9 day long travel trip, one of which included a short stay at Kathmandu, Nepal for 3 days as part of my company’s team retreat! Though i could not try the many exciting adventure sports or visit the Everest base camp, it was definitely a wish come true to see the vast mountain range up-close and personal! Breathtaking is what i would say. The Nepali food was healthy and tasty (though the prevalence of buffalo meat may not be suited to everyone’s palate), the temples and palaces were splendid (too bad could not visit Pashupathinath Temple).

It was evident that Nepal is one of the few places in the world where the marvel of nature’s creations are intact and can be experienced in possibly many ways! Check out some of the pictures i was able to take during my stay – (My favorite ones are the aerial shots from the flight back to Delhi of course! – Simply stunning views)

Okk! To my non-IPL blog followers, this is the Chennai M.A.Chidambaram cricket stadium! It is also the home ground for the incredibly awesome Chennai Super Kings (Google it)

I am no cricket fanatic, but i do love my team!

Yess !! After many years, i’ve finally bought a Digital SLR camera! (Actually it’s my sisters birthday present, still i get equal share). These light trail shots are some of the many many experiments i’ve always wanted to try. Using cellphone camera flashes, we (me and my sis) were able to recreate decent light trails! eee i love photography. Creative limits. There is no such thing.

Hope you like it!
